Academy

Our Academy program builds on the foundation of our Junior Academy program and is the next step in the Columbus Soccer Club player development pathway. At the Academy stage of development we introduce the concept of teammates and a general team structure. We continue to fine-tune individual skills and technique but expand the learning environment to include the use of other team members and space. This additional focus allows players to build trust with one another and their training to be successful on the pitch. Overall, our focus continues at the Academy level is on individual player development and not wins and losses.

Competitive

The next phase of player development is our Competitive program. This is the first year in which tryouts are held to fill rosters for each team. Players will be grouped by similar abilities to maximize development by providing each player an appropriate level of competition. While rosters are less fluid than earlier phases of development, players may still be moved between rosters to provide a more or less competitive environment to learn depending on how well their development is progressing. This could include temporary opportunities to experience a greater or lesser level of competition or permanent placement as warranted. Overall, team rosters are typically set for the full year (August 1 through July 31) with tryouts each June for the upcoming season.

Select

Our Select program is an extension our Competitive program and final step in the Columbus Soccer player development pathway. Select teams are formed through a tryouts process that is open to all interested soccer players. Our Select teams will include the top players within our club and will require a greater commitment for practice and travel than other Columbus Soccer teams. These rosters are locked in for the year (August 1 through July 31). Those who tryout but are not invited to be on a Select team roster will be accepted into our Competitive program and placed on an appropriate team based upon individual skill level.
