Competitive

The next phase of player development is our Competitive program. This is the first year in which tryouts are held to fill rosters for each team. Players will be grouped by similar abilities to maximize development by providing each player an appropriate level of competition. While rosters are less fluid than earlier phases of development, players may still be moved between rosters to provide a more or less competitive environment to learn depending on how well their development is progressing. This could include temporary opportunities to experience a greater or lesser level of competition or permanent placement as warranted. Overall, team rosters are typically set for the full year (August 1 through July 31) with tryouts each June for the upcoming season.

Our focus of development continues to move from individual to team-oriented training to help players learn about the tactical benefits of team play. Individual technique will continue to be emphasized as well. Overall, our Competitive program provides a balance between developing skills, competing at a high level, and winning. Our Competitive teams will participate in Nebraska Youth Soccer League (NYSL) in a division that matches their respective skill set. This helps to maximize playing time, offers increased participation and touches on the ball, and meaningful and competitive games. Teams will also have the opportunity to participate in weekend soccer tournaments throughout Nebraska and surrounding states as selected by each team and as are appropriate for their ability.

Competitive players are required to purchase both home and away uniform kits. Teams will practice twice per week throughout the Fall and Spring sessions and participate in the Sports Performance training program and indoor practice sessions during the winter months.
