The Columbus Soccer Club is excited to announce the formation of a brand new recreational soccer league for the Columbus area!
This new recreational soccer league is intended for soccer players who are not on a competitive club travel team. Rather, this league is open to all soccer players who are looking for a fun local league that does not require any travel commitment or annual fees. Perfect for beginners, those looking to grow their skills, or even experienced (non-club) kids wanting to play soccer. There are no tryouts, and the league is open to all boys and girls ages 4 through 18 (as of July 31, 2027).
Our new recreational league will include a developmental component as well. Each week, teams will practice for a brief period immediately before their scheduled game. That's right, practices and games are on the same night, and all at the same soccer complex (Wilderness Park). Coaches will be provided with a weekly training program so that every team in the same age division will learn the same age-appropriate skills each week no matter who your coach is. And, speaking of coaches, we will be refunding your child's full registration fee at the end of the season for anyone who volunteers to coach. We'll even throw in a free shirt for coaches as well.
This league will serve as a training program for new referees as well. We have simplified the laws to allow new referees a chance to focus on proper positioning and mechanics. Referees will be paid and will get a free shirt as well. Experienced mentor referees will be on-site to assist with training.
Our recreational league will feature three primary characteristics: organization, communication, and convenience.
1) We have published a full page of important information, including a timeline of important milestones from the start of registration to the final whistle, to help keep parents informed.
2) Through our new PlayMetrics league management system, parents will be notified immediately when their child is placed on a roster, schedules are available, or any other important notifications (including weather cancellations or schedule changes). All communication will come directly from our League Director, so coaches don't have to worry about trying to call everyone on their team whenever something comes up. Regular updates will be provided to parents throughout the process.
3) Our goal is to get all of the games in on Thursday evenings, but will use Tuesday evenings if needed due to high turnout (teams will play only one game per week). No running all over town. All practices and games on just one night per week. No weekend games!
Visit our recreational soccer league page for full details and a link to get registered. Sign up early and get $10 off of your league registration (register by March 31st). Final deadline to sign up is May 31st.
